Adobe Illustrator - distributing text (HELP!)

Hi peoples, I'm having a bit of jammy dodger with Illustrator today. I'm wanting to distribute text evenly (Horizontal Distribute Center) but everytime I click it, nothing happens! Now usually this works fine, i even used it for the exact same purpose in my last design. but now..well now it's just being stubborn. Any help…
