Hello all, I'm applying for Jobseeker's Allowance (I think since I am unsure what PRSI contributions I have really) for the first time. I've had a bit of an unusual background: was on a scholarship for a long time in college, then worked as a tutor there for a little bit and then some bitty work at another college. Most of them these were a few hours a week type jobs. I've mostly been kept going through a general frugality (living at home, don't drink, etc.). However I've hit a point where I am going to start seeking work, but I want to fully focus on it and so apply for benefits. However, since neither of my small bits of work were proper jobs I don't have a p45. I think the last time I had one was when I was like 18 in Dunnes. How significant will this be in securing benefits? Is it absolutely essential? I will be asking when I go there next week, but just want to get some advice here before I go in (so I know what to expect).
