Wiper issue on Astra

I just started having a problem with my intermittent wiper on my 01 Astra was wondering what it could be. Just started happening all of a sudden yesterday, yet the other two wiper speeds are working fine.
What could be wrong, it starts moving then sticks in the middle of the screen and I have to flick the stalk again to get them back down. Would I fail the NCT for this as I have it soon? Thanks for any replies.

I have had the same problem with the same vintage of astra. It's one of the brushes on the motor have gone. You can either fix it yourself or get a replacement motor. Don't go to a scrappy for the replacement. It's such a common problem, you've a high chance of getting another dodgy one (happened me). I got.a new one on eBay from a parts shop in Birmingham. Hardest bit of fitting the new one is getting the wiper arms off. Was told later you can buy a tool on amazon for getting them off easily...

Cheers thanks, I did a bit more digging & found a way of fixing the contacts without replacing the motor, a job for the weekend.
    regards, Stephen.
