I'm just wondering what would be the best way to go about it, don't really want to put it on adverts or Facebook as we want her to get the proper value for it

A pic of the item concerned would be useful as there are indeed a lot of repros about. :)

How long has your M.I.L had this in her family ?
Repro-duction is a modern gramophone copy, or fake

    A good question - what is one worth ? haven't a clue

If you could trace it back... lets say 40 or 50 years, then it would more likely to be genuine

Repro would be my guess - there's a huge number of them around, and the timber appears very well preserved for an original piece.

Ones with anything other than a square box base (octagonal/circular) are suspect.

Loads of them are cobbled together from parts of originals or poorly made components in the subcontinent. Don't play any records on it, it will wreck them.

Judging from the transfer of Nipper the dog, fresh condition and brass horn...looks like we got ourselves a 'Crap-o-phone' here.

Almost brand new...the place is full of them.

This particular one will have the mechanissm break pretty quickly if you wind it up too often.

You might get 50 euro on adverts or similar as a conversation piece but don't attempt to sell it as genuine.
