I'm a 28 year old female, living at home in Cork and I have an interview for a Job's Bridge internship in Dublin. Yay :)

I currently receive €188 a week on Job Seekers benefit. Can anyone tell me if I can claim rent allowance in Dublin if I get the job and need to move up??

    Thanks for all your help,

    KF :)

Unless you have rented for 6 months in the last year or have been assessed and approved for a council house you won't qualify for rent allowance

If you were in reciept of rent allowance in Cork, you could have it transferred to a new residency in Dublin but there can be a delay with it. If you are applying from scratch then as said you would need to be assessed as being in need of housing by the local council.

The 6 month private renting usually has a stipulation that you have to have been able to afford the rent realistically on your own before your circumstances changed. So spending most of your 188 a week on rent for 6 months while waiting for RA wouldn't work for eg.
