    Hey all,
My 4870 is on it's way out; when it's hot, I'm even seeing graphical anomalies on Youtube! Here's a clip of BF3 when the overheating starts; it ends when I get booted out to the desktop. So does anyone know where I can pick up a half way decent replacement for about €75 ?

Also, whilst I'm here, the lack of a right mouse button (it's also on the way out, for the past year) on my Razer DeathAdder is slightly annoying, so an alternative to that would be nice. Are the Mad Catz mice any good (the €55 ones), and does anyone know what the size is compared to the Razer DeathAdder?

I bought one of these for home and another for work.

    http://www.amazon.co.uk/Perixx-MX-2000-Programmable-Gaming-Laser/dp/B0083H4NG4/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1379571620&sr=8-1&keywords=perixx

That said it would be rare that i would play a FPS. BUt for other delicate work, maps drawings etc. its excellent.

I would suggest putting anything saved on the mouse budget back into the graphics card. What resolution is your monitor?

Had to send my Sons R.A.T.5 back after two months after it stopped tracking, did a google on it and it seems to be a common problem with them.

The replacement is working fine but then it has only been a few weeks, so still early days.

PC World have this for €25 euro at the moment, decent value. Better off buying a cheaper mouse and then spending more on a half decent card.

Not bad, but I'll pass. I need the left and right mouse button, and two thumb buttons; one for comms, and one for melee.

/edit; also, have a strong preference for wired mice, as I LAN from time to time.

For that price you'd be looking at used GPU most likely. What resolutions are you playing at and what is your CPU?
Personally I'd suggest not looking below at least 1GB version of 7850. Amazon has one for €137,83 (£115.96) with free delivery to Ireland. Also take a peak in bargain alerts thread, people are posting some crazy prices for GPUs there quite often. Some even includes free games or delivery.

8GB RAM, 2.83Ghz Q9550. Only have a 19" screen (so probably 1280*1024), but would hope to upgrade that.

I think you are safe to look at GTX 650 non-ti version to save some buck to play at those resolutions. That CPU is still pretty good, in theory it shouldn't even bottleneck GTX 660 / 7870 in most games. But yea you might want to look at better monitor in future.

More good deals on AMD cards at Ocuk.
so now looking at Ocuk, along with their mice.

After looking at a number of video reviews, I think I'll get the Gigabyte M6900 for £17

    =-=

    £149 Gainward GeForce GTX 660
    or
    £149 HIS HD 7870 IceQ X 2048MB
Probably go for the latter, as it's longer, and thus (hopefully) easier to cool.

£149 also, the MSI HD 7870 Black Knight 2048MB has two fans on it.

    Hrm... no idea :/

The MSI 7870 will OC better, it also has 2x PCIe power connectors as opposed to GTX 660, which has only 1 (keep PSU connections and wattage in mind here). Also you get free games with MSI... you could in theory get some money back if you manage to sell them.
Good choice, btw, 7870 are very good cards.
I'd suggest to watch some vids or read some reviews (like techpowerup) to draw final conclusions, both 660 and 7870 has their ups and downs, it all comes down to your own preferences.
