Im looking to locate the mast im currently connected to for my mobile broadband... i have used siteviewer to see which mast it likely is and there only seems to be 1 close to me however it is across the river shannon at shannon airport... im quite close to the airport (about 3 miles across water) so me connected to this mast is not out of the question im just curious to confirm this.

is there any piece of software i can get that will recognize my dongle and tell me the site id? i want to know this because i want to try to get a better signal,i have not been able to located another mast from the same network anywhere as close as this one that's across the water.

MDMA http://www.nerve.org.za/mdma/ is a program that can tell you the cell ID the problem is the cell ID doesn't relate to the ID's on siteviewer and the ISP's won't help you, well I know for sure three won't.

Best option is to find a way of screening the antenna so you know you are only picking up a signal from direction that's not screened.

Over water provided you can get some height seems to be a good way of getting a signal from a long way away I can do at least 10k over water and get a good 5 bar connection and good speeds/
