I needed to get both my tie rod ends replaced on my alfa 159 recently.
Just wanted to know how much that would normally cost? Front wheel alignment was done after replacing them.

Do you mean the inner rod, as opposed to the track rod end. If so, depending on where they were sourced, probably between 25 and 40 Euro each plus labour.
The inner rods are not supplied by Fiat (Alfa), they only supply either the outer rods or complete rack.

Sorry meant track rod ends. Both were sourced non-fiat (some German make).
So what should the cost of labour be?

Probably about 150 and then an alignment for ~40.

If you are anyway handy you can replace them yourself, you just take the wheel off and its there looking at you, thousands of videos of it on youtube etc.

Then just pay for the alignment (or not)

150labour+2x€30 is awfully expensive labor for an indy mechanic isnt it?

I paid 180 and was there the whole time and saw what was done. It couldn't have taken more than an hour max.
    180. not including alignment.

What type did you get? Changing mine soon too.

Do they come in different types? I think its just a part that different manufacturers can make, they all work the exact same.

    Available here: http://www.alfaworkshop.co.uk/parts/159_Track_Rod_End.shtml
Perhaps you could buy them yourself and pay for labour if you haven't got tools to do them yourself (I didn't have the tools)

    Thanks man.
Btw the only tools you need are a hammer and a couple of spanners.

There was a lot (A LOT) of rust on the nut holding the tie rod in on the left side. Not easy to remove.

my ends were 20 each from micksgarage and a ball joint extractor for 17 which is a lot better then whacking it with a hammer...

Put a dose of wd40 on it the night before.
