Myself and the girlfriend are going to albufeira soon,
This is a quiet holiday as we are not too big into partying. we have one daytrip to zoomarine already paid for. I was just wondering how much spending money we would need each there, like i said we will not be drinking every night but would like to do nice things..and of course she'll want to shop a bit.

    Cheers in advance.

€200 each per day will be loads, anything you don't spend you can bring home and spend here.

Are you staying in a hotel or self catering in an apartment?

It's self catering. we have any day trips we planned paid for already too.

I think 200 each a day is too big a budget! We were just there for 5 nights. We stayed in the old town and got by on about 90 a day and we really werent watching every penny. Breakfast was less than a fiver every morning and there were loads of set menus in the evenings that were really reasonable. There is one in O Veleiro for 11 euro that includes 3 courses and a half bottle of wine per person!

we were in Portugal in June and I have to say I found it quite expensive (well compared to Spain where we have gone the previous three years). You should be able to manage on an average of €75 a day if there are days where you are just lazing by the pool or going to the beach & just having dinner in or out. The waterpark Aqualand is excellent so try & fit in a trip.

Well in that case you can if you want lower your costs by eating in some nights and nothing wrong with having a few drinks on the balcony. Lunch as well could be some bread, salad and olives in your own place. (Gosh just thinking about it I am really jealous :)) €75 each per day then should be loads.

I am just curious what type of shopping will your better half be doing?

Ah ok so  you better up the budget considerably or eat less - that stuff doesn't come cheap :D

    Enjoy the break.

When we went on holidays as a family of 4, we would typically have allowed €100 per day. That wouldn't have included day trips, only food and some shopping. So for a couple I would say €100 would be ok.

Just got back from there last week, found the food really quite cheap and very good quality. Booze prices are similar enough to Ireland but the local beers and wine are much cheaper than here.
Taxi's are also good value, only about a fiver from the main strip to the old town district.
I survived on about 90 euro a day and I was eating and drinking as much as I liked. You could easily survive on less than that.

    Enjoy
