For anyone that might be interested, please do come along to the information night this evening.

The society is a very welcoming and is always looking for new members. It is a excellent social outlet and can be something interesting to do in the dark Jan/Feb nights! Along with the rehearsals for the show there is also a great social side to it all! See below for more details.

From more information PM me here :-)

LIMERICK Musical Society will be staging the Limerick Premier of the Andrew Lloyd Webber and Tim Rice musical, Evita at the University Concert next year in March. We will be holding an information and open night for new and existing members on Wednesday, September 18 at 8pm in Dolan's Pub and Restaurant on the Dock Road.

Evita concentrates on the life of Argentine political leader, Eva Peron, the second wife of Argentine president Juan Peron, and the story follows Evita's early life, rise to power, charity work, and eventual death.

The musical began as a rock opera concept album released in 1976. Its success led to productions in London's West End in 1978, winning the Laurence Olivier Award for Best Musical, and on Broadway a year later, where it was the first British musical to receive the Tony Award for Best Musical. This has been followed by a string of professional tours and worldwide productions and numerous cast albums, as well as a major 1996 film of the musical starring Madonna and Antonio Banderas. The musical was revived in London in 2006 and on Broadway in 2012.

Limerick Musical Society is a very welcoming society, and is always looking for new members. Whether you would prefer to play a lead role, sing and dance in the chorus or get involved back stage, front of house or with many other aspects of the musical, which include hair and make-up, props, costumes, sets, etc., come along to our open night, bring a friend and make new friends for life! Information will be provided on the show, show dates, auditions, rehearsals, etc.

Evita will be directed by Des Henn, musical direction by Maire Keary-Scanlon, and choreographed by Niamh Twomey.
