How many qualifying Comps do you play?

Was just checking Golfnet earlier and I have played 14 qualifying comps this year, with two left it will be the least I have played in the past 3 years. Is normally around 20.

How many on average do you play?

i have played in 16 so far. have played a lot of am-am this year so i would normally have a lot more entered.

I've already been 'outed' as the most prolific golfer in my place so no longer embarrassed. Sure what else wouldja be doing? :cool:

I've played 22 qualifying rounds. Only a handful of non qualifying rounds (Team Events, Fourballs), maybe 3 max. One 9 hole casual round. So all of my golf time has gone into Singles where possible.

No surprise then that my Hcp stats look like this:

17 0.1's
2 Buffers
2 Reductions Only
1 cut of 0.2

Nett result = 8.0 --> 9.5 :rolleyes:

There was me thinking that the total number of point 1's I have had through the season was particuarly high or above average. In fairness I have played six comps in the last three weekends and they all resulted in point 1's.

Do you play links so qualifying all year round or that since march/April?

I was thinking about why mine was lower this year and is mainly due to work, holidays and playing more inter club stuff (well trials- didn't get selected!)

Con'grat, singles figures is always a big target to reach.

If I'm being honest I'm pretty happy with getting back to where I started the year (6.6). I know this might seem strange however having played so badly for most of the year and really losing confidence in my game it has been nice to play something like what I know I can over the last few weeks (two cuts in last three outings).

If I could get to 6 before the end of the qualifying golf I think I will enjoy my winter golf and have something positive to take into next season.

I played a few comps in Portmarnock Hotel and Links last winter as a non-member and they were counting events, so they contributed to overall figure. Don't play much parkland golf during the winter, but more than make up for it in the summer!

only 12 qualifying events this year, 8 buffers and 4 0.1's, hopefully I'll add one or 2 cuts before the end of the season, have been playing decent enough the last couple of weeks.

Benicetomonty, does Portmarnock run the open comps at the weekend or where all the ones you played last winter during the week?

Christ, do i even like golf? Ive only played in a pathetic 6 qualifying events. A lot of it is down to being in 2 societies but still, thats a lame excuse. Must get out more next year.

Looking at the fixtures for this sunday and theres hardly anything available in the dublin/wicklow/kildare area.

9 comps only(due to fact of never being able to make it out of work on time for opens and family life takes over on weekends)

Bad year from me was in an accident in march nd been getting treatment on back and neck since and haven't been able to practice as much as I would like handicap gone from 7 to 9 :-(

Played good golf for 3 days (both cuts one after the other) so have to say I'm disappointed overall. It's in there...just need to get it out :rolleyes:

Net result, was 7.5 in Jan, now 5.7 - got it to 5.1 in the summer but sloppy rounds since then have me drifting back out.
Three or four comps left, so hopefully might get back to 5 before the season finishes for me, just need to cut out the 2 or 3 car-crash holes that are costing me all the shots.
Overall fairly happy, maybe a little disappointed that I lost 3 full shots in 8 days in July and didn't really push on from it. The good golf was condensed into a very short period !

Still in the lead in the club for most rounds equal to or below CSS in the 0-9 handicap category and leading in the Most improved player in % of handicap reduction. Still about 4 Comps left so a bit of time left to improve.

There are definitely some positives to being unemployed.

I play every weekend (just about) and I only have 17 qualifying:

5 x buffer
2 x cuts (-1.4 and -1.2) and an ESR (-1)

Haha - almost identical to mine! 8.0 to 9.5 and my only 0.2 cut was a clause 19 too - you've had way more buffers than me tho. Can imagine that must be more frustrating.
