2010 Audi A4 BackWindow

    Gents,
Recently bought a 2010 Audi A4 - zero complaints with the car to date apart from one annoyance.
The back Window doesn't have a wiper - this is standard enough through the range I believe.

A couple of evenings with heavy rain and the daily dirt that get attached to the window I have found it almost impossible to see out the back - I can see the lights of cars etc but if there was somebody walking / cycling behind or during the day if a car didn't have lights on it might be hard to see.

Any ideas how to get around this?
Is there any washing solutions I get get to put on the window to help the rain not to stick ?

    Any suggestions welcome.

    Thanks

    What model do you have.

Generally saloons don't have a rear wiper. At speed the rear window will clear itself.
Estates and hatchbacks generally do have a wiper cause of their angle.

Wiper would be hideous on a saloon.
Id try some coating that might make stuff run off it better.

Anyone remember the ford escort of the 90s

    Rainx works well.

As above Rainex, is the back window tinted by any chance?

I have the 2010 S Line Saloon model.

It seems more that the rain water just sticks to the glass - perhaps it was washed with a wax based cleaner at some stage.

I get that the car doesn't need a wiper in that the technology in the glass should be sufficient but at the moment there is no way it is acceptable.

    Back window isn't tinted.

Which of the Rain-X products would be best?

When did you wash the car last?

Sounds like the rear window has a layer of dirt on it that could be holding the water.

Cheers - will look at getting some of the Rain-X

Back window ins't that dirty - have a small layer of dirt on from driving around the city but not sure muck or anything
Get's washed every couple of weeks.

The only A4 model I've ever seen with a back wiper has been the Avant estates. A4 saloons don't have them nor don't most saloons as generally the length of the boot and the steeper slope of the rear windscreen means water flows off it a lot faster than on a hatchback with has a more slanted and generally larger rear windscreen.

I've been driving different saloons for years and non of them had a rear wiper and it never bothered me. My current car is a Passat CC which has a very curved rear window with no wiper and I can still manage perfectly with it in the rain. I can only presume OP that your previous car was a hatchback and you miss the rear wiper?

Make sure your window is impeccably clean before using rain x or the situation will be worse.

This is actually my first car so zero to compare it too but I do know that the amount of rain that sticks to it isn't normal.

I think the best thing would be to give it a super good clean then use Rian -x or simialr product and see if that helps.
If it rains this evening I will try take a picture.

Happy with the fact it doesn't have a rear wiper as from what you guys have said if the window is operating correctly it should clear shortly after I start driving around
