Damp proofing old walls

I will have the walls of an old house plastered shortly (internal plastering). Would it be a good Idea to have the walls drilled(injected) now before plastering is done. I'm not sure how good the damp proof course is after all these years ...80 yrs I think. Is it expensive to have this done...cost per meter .
    Thanks.

Why are you drilling the walls?

I think the walls are drilled in order to insert (inject) damp proof course.

Don't know any prices but the guy doing the damp proofing should know how to go about it, no point plastering and finding out he has to drill the new work to do his job

I doubt very much if you'll find any dpc in 80 year old walls!
You'll need to talk to an engineer there.

I sent you a pm. But agree with above you need to talk to someone involved with restoration before injecting walls or plastering inside walls

Don't inject the walls. If injection worked you could put lightweight plaster on walls after. But these are specifically not allowed.

Clean the walls well after removing any loose plaster. If lime-putty or hardwall, remove completely. Hose down and scud with 1:1 (clean sand:cement)
Give a first coat of 2:1 with waterproofer
Close in and scud with 2.5:1 with waterproofer
Next day, float out and feather edge with 3:1 with waterproofer
This should give a total thickness of 25mm

Instead of skimming (you may get condensation because of the denseness of the render) blob 1/2" sheetrock and then skim.

I did this about 15 years ago to my stone house in Kerry and it's still bone dry.

    Best of luck.
