Considering off loading any high cell count cows, etc. straight to factory and buying in a few aut. calving heifers, Would heifers have much of a premium over aut calving cows?? scanning next week will assess production to march and decide then

    vaccinated yes

    calving for next 70days

Vaccination rules me out. I've an IBR free herd and if you have vaccinated it will come up as positive.
I had 2 guys (you probably know them) trying to put a load together for me out of Ireland and pretty much failed.
Bought a small herd close by and hope to get a load out of either Holland or Germany.
I need a free IBR test to keep my options open. If I wanted out in the morning the only place I can send an IBR pos is to the factory.

was going to post in the cows out thread latest posts re sheebadogs visit to holland but said i better keep it together some bit

is it only non marker vaccines that will show as +ive though and if you used a marker vaccine then it would differentiate infected naturally from vaccinated animals??

    from http://www.animalhealthireland.ie/ckfinder/userfiles/files/201308%20IBR%20FAQ.pdf
An IBR vaccine can either be ‘Conventional’ (non-marker) or ‘Marker’. Only Marker vaccines are licensed for use in
    the Republic of Ireland.
    Conventional (Non-Marker)
Only Marker vaccines are licensed for use in the Republic of Ireland. When a ‘Conventional’ (‘Non-marker’) vaccine is
used there is no way to determine whether a vaccinated animal has been naturally infected with IBR. This is a problem
when trying to control IBR because you cannot identify animals latently infected with natural virus in vaccinated stock
or track the success of a control programme (van Drunen Littel-van den Hurk, 2006).
    Marker
‘Marker’ vaccines were developed to allow vaccinated and naturally infected (or conventionally vaccinated) animals
to be differentiated using an appropriate test (gE specific). The success of control programmes using marker vaccine
    can be monitored easily.
Only ‘Marker’ vaccines are licensed for use in the Republic of Ireland. In other countries (including the United
Kingdom) both conventionally (non-marker) and and marker vaccines are available.
The marker vaccine companion tests are a little less reliable than general tests.

    more info here http://www.animalhealthireland.ie/ckfinder/userfiles/files/20130517%20IBR%20Short%20Farmers%20V2_0(1).pdf

    http://www.animalhealthireland.ie/ckfinder/userfiles/files/201308%20IBR%20Full%20Info.pdf

@stanflt do you vaccinate breeding bulls also?? if your doing females only how do you stop males getting it or am i way off with my thinking

from the same link as above
Animals must not be vaccinated with any type of vaccine (including ‘Marker’ vaccines) if they are to enter a
semen collection centre or bull testing station in the Republic of Ireland.
