Does an endorsement effect insurance for rest of my life?

I got convicted back in 2006 of driving a car with no L plates and no fully qualified driver with me and nct out of date by a couple of months,

I got a €400 euro fine and endorsement on my licence, (no points and not put off the road)

As the endorsement stamp is still on my licence I let the insurance companies know about it even after 7 years of getting it,

As soon as I give them the information most companies don't want know about me and won't give me a quote. I want to shop around to see if I can get a better price than what I'm paying now with current company.

So basically I'm wondering if this endorsement will effect me forever or is there a time when I don't have to mention it to insurance company?

    Many thanks
    Mac.

It's the conviction which causes you a problem, not the endorsement. Try using a broker, they may be able to ge someone to see sense.

An endorsement is usually 3 years but could be longer. Ring up your local district court clerk and give them the details of your court case and they should be able to check for you.

I'd 'lose' my licence and apply for a replacement, the endorsements shouldn't be on the replacement.

I'm with a broker already, I have been with them for 98% of my driving years.
I've stayed with them because they were only one of few I could get insurance with.

As I'm now older and the conviction was so long ago I assumed I wouldn't have a problem shopping around now unforunatly that's not the case.

For the last few years my insurance is around €500-€600 mark

    Driving a tdi estate
    32 years old
    Full ncb
    Full licence

Just wondering is that price range about right? Was hoping it would have reduced some bit to around €400-€500.

Hi Mac send off for a replacement licence now I'm not condoning it but just an idea and say you lost it then you will get a new credit card type you will need to go to Garda station and get a form stamped and send off new pics but might clear the problem.

I thought about the 'lose' licence scenario too but I read somewhere that if u lose licence they will replace like for like so if there is and endorsement stamp on it they will also put it on the replacement one aswell.

If it was to be renewed because it was out of date then it may not be printed on new one.

Regardless of what is printed on the current licence document you hold, Insurers usually ask for 'any previous convictions' without a timeframe. (with regard to claims, they usually ask about claims in the last 3 or 5 years)

You must disclose all convictions but insurers usually go fairly light on spent or older incidents providing they are not too serious in nature

if the endorsement was only 3 years then the wont transfare it to a new license.
