Sandblasting in Dublin

I have an 8' x 5' trailer I'm looking to get sandblasted. Just the frame as the panels and floor will be removed. The only quote I've gotten so far is for €200 ex VAT which seems a bit steep to me considering how little there is to blast and how quick the process is with the right equipment. I've rang a few companies but the majority have said the job is "too small" for them.

Can anyone recommend somewhere in Dublin that would quote this job for a reasonable price? Thanks.

Chap out in Howth on West Pier does it.

    Very good too.

I used him before to get a set of gates and a set of alloy wheels blasted and stripped back to bare metal.

Also give Tallaght Powder Coating a shout and ask them for a price.
I have used them before, and they are also very good.

Thanks Paddy. Do you have a name/number for the guy in Howth?

I contacted Tallaght Powder Coating but they said they couldn't sandblast a trailer. They must only have the static sandblasting machine.

You do realise how much it costs to run a compressor to drive the sand blaster, plus there's the cost of a lad for a few hours to do it.

I have used this guy http://www.tadltd.ie/ he does vapour blasting and can leave an etch finish ready for priming or a smooth finish. I got an outboard engine done and that was €300 so I think your quote of €200 was well worth the money for a trailer.

michael999999 id say it costs about 3 euros to run a compressor for two hours, at a longshot. And then 30 euros to pay the lad for the same two hours.. at a longshot.

    what exactly is your point.....

my point is that this is just another exaple of 'professionals' ripping people off. I actually do need something sandblasted, but at the prices quoted above, I'll think of some other means of doing it. I could nearly by a compressor and sandblasting gun for 200.

Ironic then that this is the DIY forum.

Cost of compressor with enough capacity to do the sandblasting. - 800
Cost of renting the premises to do the sand blasting - 2000
Cost of Public Liability Insurance for the premises and work. ???

200 is starting to sound a lot better, especially for the Dublin area.

I do however know of someone who does sandblasting out past Longford that would probably be able to do it for around 100 but then he will not be paying the Dublin rent!

Lads. Would be better to open a new thread here . It's a perfect example, we have lads asking banned users questions about two year old content and it is now about how much it costs to run a business.
Plus it's a bit needlessly ratty.

Would be far better opening a new fresh thread.

No need for an ott response on this, thanks all.
