Anyone got experience of Kartel wetgear? Have to replace my old Dryjoys and our proshop only has Kartel. It doesn't feel very substantial - is that just my imagination?

Had a Kartel top years ago, not the best. Invested in a Galvin Green top which has served me 100% waterproof, rarely use trousers so didn't go for GG and went for Mizuno Imperalite and all good so far on the two or three occasions I've used them, for hat I go with GG again.
GG is pricy but keep your eye out for deals, McGuirks had a GG top reduced to €175 a few weeks back and then there was a 25% off code that was on the go also making it excellent value....

I have a pair of Kartel Rain trousers, have to say I'm very pleased with them. They look just like normal trousers but slighter heavier, the rain just runs off them. I have ProQuip wet gear and if its going to be heavy rain, i'll wear those, but I've worn the Kartels on some bad days and they always kept me dry.

I wouldn't go near Galvin Green,
so over-priced it's not even funny

I had a Kartel pants for about 2 years. I try to avoid playing in the rain but i wore it in a few showers and and managed to stay dry.

About a month ago i got caught in the that real misty rain just coming down like sheets. The pants were useless. I got soaked right through to my jocks. It was miserable.

After that i went out to buy a new pair of rain trousers. Wasnt going to pay the €260 for Galvin Green Alf pants. Was looking at Mizuno of FJ pans for about €100. I heard good things about both of them.

Luckly i came across a closing down sale then that had the Galvin Green pants on clearance at €140 so i got them. Havent had to use them yet though thankfully !

My advice if you cant get Galvin Greens cheap is to try Mizuno or FJ.

Kartel is fine for a showers but if it really comes down its useless. That was my experience anyway.

What about Proquip Raingear. Seems to have a good rep and is fairly priced.

I've missed the Galvin Green thing, what's the deal?

Have an old pair of 'Cross' waterproofs from ages ago, very trusty., they are bulletproof, water only comes in therough the kneck, which in some showers this year lead to a full upper boady soaking. I rarely spend money on things that aren't clubs, balls. Have a 10 year old pair of golf shoes I still wear sometimes lol

I had a Kartel jacket a few years ago, couldnt swing with a huge amount of comfort when wearing it,have a pro-quip jacket now and find it excellent.

The last time i wore the Kartel jacket was a few years ago when the Irish Open was on in Killarney,
after the golf had finished on the Sunday myself and a friend headed back to town for a few scoops, inside one particular establishment we spotted Graeme McDowell having a pint,so with a bit of dutch courage on us we asked him if we could get our picture taken with him,he said no problem so i took off said Kartel jacket for the photo, that was the last time i seen that jacket...it got lifted!

my buddy still reckons Gmac took it:D
im still waiting to see him wearing it on tour though!

the fact Gmac would steal it means that Kartel must be good:P

    forget kartel,go for pro-quip

Unlucky, I met him in the same establishment on the Sunday.
Was in having a p*ss in the jacks and he walked in, bit of chat was had and we fixed the hair etc... as we walked out a few locals spotted us.

They thought I was part of his gang, kept buying me drink for the night, the more I denied, the more they winked and nodded "ay ya, sure we know you don't want to be bothered with all the usual questions from us"

By the end of the night, and a few free whiskeys later, I was filling them in about the massive party we had after the US Open in my best hybrid accent :D

I have a Kartel jacket too, but I just keep it as a backup as I find it uncomfortable to swing with.... Can't remember where or if I bought it :D
(I can, and I did buy it)

i won a set of kartel wet gear and wore it for the best part of 10 years. found it absolutely fine to be honest.

i have a pair of footjoy wet trousers now though and have to say they are a world apart.

kartel are grand, but if money is no issue, there are better out there.
