    HI All,

After purchasing my Nikon F100 recently and a 50mm 1.8 I am thinking of a new lens.

What are peoples thoughts on the Nikon 20mm 2.8? Its an older lens but looks quite impressive. The quick speed and wide angle especially for landscapes and some indoor work appeals to me.

Anyone own this or have any thoughts?

    Thanks

    VC:cool:

I'm a wide angle lens Fan, I use a 20-35 F2.8 on a FF and find it great, 20mm Prime is nice, but find something with alittle a zoom very helpful as it saves on zooming with the Feet.

A Sigma 28-70 F2.8 is not that expensive and opens up alot more doors.

    Thanks for that Wolfman.

I dont mind zooming with feet. I actually prefer it so I dont have to re calculate aperture etc. Especially as I shoot film.

At the moment I am using the 50mm so I think I will go for the 20mm. Really looking forward to some nice shots.

Next on the list will probably be the 24-70 2.8 when I get a few bob together.

Was thinking of your question yesterday the look of a FF on 20mm so I did a small film last Night.

    It was taken with a 5DMk2 on a 20-35mm F2.8L Lense.

most of it was shot at 35mm, but I did focus to 20mm a few times.

As I'm New to FF filming, I wanted to try out abit of Black and White.

Apoligies for the Sound was done using Default Camra Mic. need to get myself a nice sound recorder (Recommend one?).
Also is not had any effects added, AS IM new to After effects.

As it was like a small interview. The fact I needed it on a tripod for stability I found the zoom abit handy than feet

I found the 20mm a nice wide lense still produced Nice FILM lookg for indoor.

I'm wating for a 28-70 2.8 Sigma to arrive in Post, picked it up for 120 on adverts. will let you know if it was any good.

 constant aperture lens or just use the camera's TTL metering and you don't have to worry about recalculating anything.

I've got that 20-35 f/2.8 nikon, normally sits on my F100 when I'm on holidays. It's a nice lens, if a trifle on the unsharp side. If you're not familiar with it, http://www.naturfotograf.com is a well respected reference for nikon lenses of all shapes and sizes.

Using a cheap telephoto ... wish I had a better lens, but trying to save for a good mid range zoom. I have a tendency to shoot using M for no particular reason...

Any tips on the F100? I think its a great camera so far.

Thanks for the link to the nikon site. Ill give it a gander.

Hi Wolfman. Unfortunately I'm not into filming but film as in 35mm and 120. Sorry if I was confusing...

See attached. Not a great pic but gives an idea of field of view.

Thought I would upload a better pic to do some justice to the lens.
