    Irish Sign Language Survey

In the Census of 2011, Question 15 asked: Do you speak a language other than English or Irish at home?

This allowed Irish Sign Language users to indicate that they used ISL. According to the census of 2011, only 1,077 Deaf people declared they used Irish Sign Language and 2590 used Irish Sign Language in general. The Irish Deaf Society queries these results and wishes to do a quantitative survey nationwide to examine the number of ISL users in Ireland

I would appreciate if you would fill in this SURVEY or you can request a hard copy by emailing susan@irishdeafsociety.ie and then posting back to: Irish Deaf Society, Deaf Village Ireland, Ratoath Road, Dublin 7

You can watch the ISL translation by clicking HERE

Please pass onto friends, family, neighbours, co-workers, etc. who use Irish Sign Language

The data gathered will be viewed only by the data control team within the IDS and data gathered for this survey will be destroyed on completion of this survey. No individuals will be identified. The survey results will be made public and available via our website, social media, Irish Deaf News and may be published in print form. This survey and data will be held in line with obligations under the Data Protection Acts 1988 & 2003.
