    Hi lads,

Thinking about purchasing a dj controller in the price range of 350 - 450...

    Any recommendations?

I'm liking the look of the reloop terminal mix 2 or 4, traktor kontrol s2 , stanton djc.4 but I don't want to waste my money.

    Any help would be sound!

I'm a fan of the S2 and Traktor. If you are interested in Traktor go to the Native-Instruments web site and also look at combing the Z1 and an X1 as an alternative setup.

At the moment I am using virtual dj, but I think I also like traktor. I would get used to anything really its just I want to get value for money - even though I know it is a fairly small budget!

The Z1 and X1 looks like a nice combination I will definitely look into that.

I use a Hercules rmx controller and I have it mapped too vdj and tracktor.. It's handy as it works for most programs is a cheap enough unit but very sturdy and doesn't really feel like a toy the same way alot of controllers do

Would also highly recommend the rmx. The RMX 2 is available new for about €250 with a gigbag. It has a better sound card and more features than its predescessor, works with almost any software and is built like a tank. Best controller in that price range by some distance IMO.

if you could save up a small bit extra i would go for pioneer ddj t1. its quite big, but theres a few floating around on adverts at good prices.

perfect for traktor, can hook up turntables to the 4 channel mixer too..

the jogs on the s2/s4 look too toyish and small to me

Nope, on the Serato verion yes, the traktor version no.

thats interesting, read a review online of the t1, not s1, and it said the mixer had analogue capabilities to hook up turntables to.

was the only reason i had been thinking of one for myself.. oh well.

At the risk of sounding like someone that is only try to flog his gear, I can sell you a DDJ-T1 or DDJ-S1 (without the software license) plus a pair of Pioneer SDJ-08 speakers for €975.

Personally, if you are thinking of sinking your teeth into DJing a little seriously I would definitely recommend spending a few extra euro and going for the S1 or T1 or even the new Pioneer Serato controller, the DDJ-SR.

Nope, on the Serato verion yes, the traktor version no.

Neither the Pioneer DDJ-S1 or DDJ-T1 have Analogue Mixer Capabilities, only their Newest DDJ-SX has a full fledged mixer.

Seeing as the New S2 mk2 Came out recently (with minimal upgrades) the price on the original S2 will go down drastically in a few weeks.

I'd seriously consider it as it comes with the FULL version of Traktor, not some Lite/Home version of something and its got tight integration with Traktor.

However the New Pioneer DDJ-SR looks very VERY tempting however is designed for Serato and believe it comes with the "lite" version.

The Hercules RMX .. I owned one for years, never let me down, built like a sherman tank. However is showing its age with its seriously few knobs that can be utilized for FX control.

My bad on the S1 having analogue inputs for decks. I had to go digging around as I remember my source as it was a guy from my local town selling it.

"The DDJ-S1 has a hardware mixer as opposed to the software mixer on the DDJ- T1, It allows you to have 2 spare channels to run cd players if needed ( The DDJ-T1 doesn't allow this as there is no physical mixer hardware control ) I have tried both versions of the DDJ and the S1 wins hands down. It just feels a better put together unit ( hence the price premium for the S1)"

Looking at pioneer website there are no additional inputs on the back so I'm not sure what he means by being able to run cd players. Anyway, point taken. Neither the S1 or T1 have inputs for additional decks.
