I was and now I'm not, been so long since I logged in I can't remember the password I typed every thirty minutes.. Kind of want to keep it that way, I'm noticing though a lot of speakers at college make reference to it for university updates.

Is it worth reopening a account to be connected with societies and updates in uni? Or can I get by with apps and word of mouth?

There's usually class groups too, so if you're stuck on an assignment you can get a little help. It's worthwhile, but not necessary.

You can probably get by without it, but it is handy for updates and keeping in contact with people in your class. As already mentioned there will be a class facebook group which can be handy for passing out information and a useful resource especially around exam time. A lot of the services and departments on campus use facebook to keep students up-to-date. I would not go back on facebook just for college news but it might be a handy way to get to know people in your class.

You can always activate your account just to keep up with your class updates as they can be really handy. For example last year the official complaint went to one of the departments. Class rep only kept us updated on facebook so that no lecturers could overhear him/her mentioning it. Also around the exam time/assessment deadlines facebook can be really handy if you are missing notes or just have a problem with past exam paper. Keeping the updates wont really force you to spend time on facebook, add photos, chat to people etc. You can always keep it just for educational stuff :)
