Sony Bravia: UPC muted but noise still from tv

When I mute the UPC control the volume goes off, almost. It's still possible to hear the tv in the background and the only way to properly mute the tv is by getting the Sony TV control and turning the volume down on it as well as pressing the mute on the UPC control. Would anybody have a solution for this, where mute on…
