1990 Black Honda Prelude Stolen - 90G5089

After 1 amateur attempt then a slightly more professional attempt thieves finall managed to take my car today.

On Wednesday of last week they drove into my apartment block in Donabate dressed in official garb and opened the bonnet to try to jump start it, they snapped the steering wheel off the column trying to break the steering lock and abandoned it. Today at 12:30 they came back - a northern reged car and a Swift Recovery truck and took it away.

The car is a 1990 Black Honda Prelude 4WS-Si Reg Number 90-G-5089. Very distinctive with 6 Spoke Evo-R Alloys and Red Break Callipers all round.

The only "Swift Recovery" Company I can find online is UK Based and a large outfit so unlikely they were a party to the theft but they may be able to tell who hired them for the lift if indeed it was actually them. But the fact a Northern registered car accompanied them points towards them.

I know it's a long shot and I'm pretty sure they want it for parts as they were determined to take it. 3 attempts in less that 11 days.

If you see it or know of any other towing company that go by the name Swift please let me know or call the Gardai in Swords.

    Thanks

Managed to track down the recovery company who lifted the car !! They tell me they believed the guys who hired them were the owners. Calling me back shortly with the location where the car was dropped off. Fingers crossed.

Sorry to hear that. Hope you get it back. They definitely were determined.

Are the recovery company liable for criminal prosecution?

I bloody well would be. As they technically stole it they can go and get it and bring it back. I'd hold them liable for not checking who owned it and for any damage done since its been gone. They should be reimbursing you.

I'm actually angry for you. I'd be ordering them to pick it up this evening and Putting it back on your driveway.

While it seems they've been had, and I'd be nice to give them a chance to rectify the situation I'd also be on to the Gardai.

    That's just mad though.

Looks like youll be due a big payday from this Swift crowd. They literally stole it and of course are liable.

Amateur **** checking for a logbook or some kind of proof of ownership.

They didnt even have keys for **** sake.

It's not often we hear a good end to these incident but . . . I got my car back !! She's outside my apartment right now. Returned by the towing company who were duped by two nefarious types into bringing the car to Rivermead ! The owner of the company went to the drop off address and found the car still there !! Picked it up and called me with the great news.

Alls well that ends well and I'm really grateful for my good friends who were invaluable in her safe return.

    Carry on . . .

If it was towed up the north, I'd be getting onto the psni giving them the exact address where these scum were keeping it.
    They may still be there.
I'd also consider moving the car to somewhere else temporarily in case they'll come back.
    Just in case.

Out of interest did the towing company have much to say.

I don't think you could have asked for more from them.

On the surface they were very embarrassed and apologetic but a little birdie tells me all may not be as clear cut as it seems. Anyway no point saying any more until the Gardai have a chance to do their work, they want to question the towing company obviously to find out all the details. Just happy to have the car back for now though there is a lot of damage needs fixing.

If anyone knows where I might source a steering column for a 1990 Prelude I'd be very grateful if you could tell me.

Feels like an ending to an episode of the Waltons now :) Night night . . .
