Carlow to Dublin with Bus Éireann

It has to be one of the worst journeys that can be taken by bus in the whole bus eireann network? Buses are usually 20-40minutes late and often leave people behind because they were full leaving Waterford and no extra bus is used because Carlow people don't matter and also because the buses are unsuitable old tour buses.

There were several people left behind today because the bus has a toilet! 4 passengers could have sat in seats if that unnecessary loo was not there. Usually there are a few seats broken and most of the ventilation and lighting units are damaged and filthy dirty.

Last Friday the 4.10pm service to dublin had two buses. A bus eireann sh1theap and a hired in bus. This hire-in had no ticket machine and music blaring at what seemed like full volume for the whole journey. At each stop the bus eireann driver was organising all those waiting so thet he only took those who needed to buy a ticket. This ridiculous practice delayed both buses by several minutes each stop.

How about using some of those shiney new buses on the Waterford route or are they reserved for rosslare drivers only?

Has anyone had worse experiences of bus trannsport with any company? What company has the worst dirtiest most broken up buses?

This just seems to be the latest failing yet you keep using the service, why? Why not an alternative provider if BE are so bad?

I find Bus Eireann generally good on the 4 service.

Buses to Dublin (10.10 am) are generally a bit late but not as much as JJ Kavanagh's service of a similar time mostly were when I used them.

My only quibble was recently taking the 23.45 picking up at Busaras. It picked up at the usual bay (16) rather than at the front where the 747 picks up. There was a sign on the window saying all services after 11pm bar a few exceptions left from the front. It just happened that I checked around the side just as the bus was pulling away. Small issue but not as much if you're stuck there late at night.

Same grossly exaggerated/made up nonsense from you, can't be bothered correcting any of it, been there done that, total waste of time.

If it is really as bad as you suggest then why wouldn't everybody including you use Kavanaghs, sure they run more services on the route as well.

BTW that was not a question so don't think I am going to bother entering into a dialogue with you over this or any other of your issues.

I should point out for any interested reading parties that since changing our route 4 timetables in 2011 and 2012 despite running less services than previously the numbers using the route are up significantly.

I guess that running constantly late services with smashed up and dirty coaches (and no doubt horrible unprofessional drivers that dare to question genuinely disabled pass holders while simultaneously failing to diligently weed out all the fraudsters) must be the formula for success in the bus and coach industry. I shall immediately contact all service operators in Ireland with this revelation as although they are competitors I feel it is unfair to keep this golden formula from them for a second longer.

The later services, motorway route and lengthening of the route to include the airport are all great improvements on the service.

BE should take credit for these.

I have used the number 4 bus twice this year. Once to Waterford and another from Waterford on separate trips. Which for me is unusual as I normally drive or take the train around the country.

Anyway on both occasions the number 4 was operated by LCs which are pretty new and comfortable. They ran to time on both occasions and were good value.

Your description of the route sounds far from what I experienced.

You know, I'd really suggest a dedicated blog for this kind of stuff.
