What's your biggest hurdle in life that can offset your relationship with God and lead you astray ?

I don't identify as a Christian but lean mmore towards Agnosticism and the belief that there's lot's of different paths to salvation, contentment and spiritual awakening. ....

My biggest hurdle was getting over Catholic induced guilt and shame etc

Now I have detached from all that and feel much better in myself.

That's very simple. The answer is . . . me

There's no point trying to blame anyone else.

Roman Catholicism is not christianity. The biggest hurdle is to look at a version of christianity of some sect, and not the real one.
If you want to understand true Christianity one must go back to scripture.

Gal 5:1 It is for freedom that Christ has set us free.

    And that is true freedom!

Mod note: Catholic/Protestant debate should go here. Let's avoid this thread descending into sectarianism.

I think Geomy's point was that Catholicism was a hurdle to what he/she views as "true" Christianity, not that the RCC is synonymous with Christianity.

@Benny_Cake: I don't think this should be a Catholic vs Protestant issue as it's safe to assume that if Geomy was a victim of Catholic guilt/shame, he/she did not encounter protestantism until later in their life, so it had much less of an effect.

That's my reading anyway, for what it's worth, speaking as a non-believer! ;)

There are no issues with this thread, my warning was simply in case anyone wanted to start a debate as to whether the RCC was a Christian church, "faith vs works" etc.
