Air Vent options

    Folks,

Not sure if this is the correct place to post but here's my problem.

I live close to the M1 and the constant noise even at night is starting to get to me. The problem is i live in a timberframe house that's full of these open vents so i can literally hear everything outside from inside the house. (To the point where i can hear someone walking up the drive its like having a window open)

I was wondering is there any issue in replacing a few of the vents with the closable ones thereby lowering the noise level a few db's? I know houses need ventilation so i'm not talking about closing them all off or anything.

The house has oil heating and double glazed windows insulated etc and the other issue is during the winter and any sort of wind theres literally a breezing coming straight into the house from a number of these vents.

Any advice or other options i should consider?

What about vent baffles? Do a search on boards as I've seen them here before.

Cheers mate they seem to be more about attic ventilation though? unless i'm looking at the wrong thing.

Ventilation isnt my issue infact i think i've too much ventilation ha. Is there any downsides to using the closable vents? Suppose i'm not sure how much sound they would drown out but at least they would stop the wind in the winter months

These are baffles for the standard 4 inch round holes builders put in walls as vents.

Closeable vents arent the worse, but obviously we vents for a reason. i.e you wouldnt want to keep them shut all winter long, maybe open them in the daytime and close at night for warmth and noise reasons. Dont close any in the kitchen or near a boiler either.

Cheers for the reply its as much a noise issue as a heating issue but i take the point i wouldnt be leaving them closed all winter long.
