Is this a good deal?

    Hi,
I am looking to buy a gaming pc for my partner and haven't a clue where to start.

He mostly plays online games like league of legends and finds that our bog standard home pc isn't good enough.

I have found a second hand pc online with the following specs:

Case : Galaxy 3 Gamers Style Case
Motherboard : Gigabyte 78LMT USB 3.0 Motherboard Technology
    CPU : AMD Bulldozer FX 4100 3.6ghz 8mb Cache
Hard Drive : 1tb Sata Hard Drive
    Memory : 8gb DDR3 1600mhz Memory
Graphics Card : MSI ATI Radeon 7750 2gb Graphic Card With HDMI
    Engine Clock:800MHz
Optical Drive : 24x Dual Layer Sata DVD Writer
Power Supply : ATX 500 Watt
    WINDOWS 7 ULTIMATE

The person is looking for €499 for it. I have no idea if it's a good deal and was looking for advice from anyone who can help.

Also, if this is not a good deal can someone recommend a good place to get a fairly good gaming pc with out breaking the bank. I don't think I would be able to build one. It looks too complicated. I had looked at alienware and found an x1 within by price range but not sure if these are good either?

    Any help is appreciated.
    D

There is standard list of questions, you will find it in other build threads on this forum, it helps identify the uses for the machine and budget, even if you are not building it yourself it's a good idea to fill it out. (on mobile so can't link to it)

If you are going second hand route, there are usually a couple of forum regulars selling PC's at any given time, check out the latest posts in the 'selling personal pc gear' thread in this forum. Likely to be a bit more trustworthy than eBay!

Posting up the spec of your existing pc would also be helpful.

FYI, you're at opposite ends of the country but Terrorfirmer is selling a PC thats really every bit as good as that for about 380 or so.

That is not a great deal at all for that price.

OverclockerUK will build a gaming PC for you for free if you buy the all the components there and also give you a warranty on the build. It would be cheaper going with the German site that is recommended here but, if something goes wrong with it the support with OCUK would be better.

Is the PC a surprise for him?
If it isn't I suggest you let him spec a build(with help from the good people on here) to your budget and he might enjoy the experience of building his own. Great satisfaction to be gotten from building your own IMO. And he'll get a better spec for less than a prebuild. Just my tuppence worth…

Taking this is it? Seems like a cheapo PSU (can't find anything about it), tbh, and cheapo PSU's tend to end badly with high end machines.

Also, considering the Windows 7 Ultimate version costs about €200, plus the games that would cost another €50 or so, would mean all the hardware costs about €250.

IMO you could get a new build for a lot less without stuff you don't need, imo. As said, name your budget, what you need it for, and let the people here show you what you can get.

    That's another TerrorFirmer ad.
Yeah, that's well priced and will run new games on high.
