PS3 12GB

Quick question. My old 60GB PS3 is dead and I need a replacement. Is the 12 GB super slim a good buy for €199 bearing in mind that I primarily want it as a blu ray player and for my kids to play their existing games on? I don't download stuff so I don't need a large hard drive. As I'm not much into gaming myself anymore, I'm not interested in the PS4 and I'm not going to buy 2 consoles, ie a PS3 so the kids can play their existing games and a PS4 for the new super dooper games (nuts to you Sony with no backwards compatibility on the PS4 like the launch PS3 had).

There are a couple of Xtravision stores closing down in Dublin area that might still have PS3 consoles on sale at a large discount, I believe Lucan is one of them, give the store a call to see if they have any,you may get a 500gb super slim for €200 or there a bouts.

Thanks lads. Have to admit I'm tempted by the GameStop offer as I have all the previous incarnations of the GTA series, plus the "Last of Us" has good reviews.

Hey lads, does anyone know the actual hard drive space on the 12gb PS3 out of the box? One of my friends wants to get on for PS3 to play GTA V but I feel it will be cutting it close with the mandatory 8gb install.

The 12GB PS3 actually has 16GB, the 12GB is the actual usable space.

Considering GTA Online may have a large download.

When you download something on the PS3 you need to have x2 the space available. Its because the PS3 downloads compressed files and unpacks them.

Is the argos deal a good price for the 500 gig slim and the 2 games ? or how long before the ps3 reduces down after the ps4 comes out ?

As for this being a good deal, I've seen the 500gb on sale alone for €300. You're getting two great games worth about €100 with the console. So you could say you're getting the console for €150! Not bad as the 12GB model is €190

Got the Argos deal today (thanks to a loan from my dear old mother) and very happy with the new console and games. Only downside is that my PS2 games, of which I still had a few favourites, won't play on the new console. Ah well!
