Sliabh Buidhe Rovers A.C. are reviving the famous Ferns half marathon in two weeks time. The race hasn't been staged for 20yrs but is coming back bigger and better on Sunday September 29th at 12 noon in Ferns, Co. Wexford.

Race entry can be made online on runireland, while entries will also be taken on the morning of the race, with reg and number pick-up taking place in Ferns community centre.

There will be technical tee-shirts for the first 200 entrants, with lots of refreshments and prizegiving in the function room of ''The Courtyard'' bar and restaurant afterwards.

    Full info on www.sbrclub.com :)

Is number collection the morning of the race? The hurling final replay and late throw in has thrown my plans into disarray, so I'll be pushing it to be down in time for the start with much to spare.

Hi The Wexican, yes number collection is on Sunday morning in Ferns community centre from 10am, with the race starting at 12 noon. If ur under pressure to collect it or get to the start line, u can get a friend to pick it up......or if ur really stuck i can arrange to get it out to u beforehand if u live in wexford - have u signed up online or are u leaving it til the day?

Unfortunately the race isn't chip timed - we had planned to have chip timing in place but it hasn't been possible..........

Results will be available at refreshments/prizegiving in ''The Courtyard'' though and we will have a large digital clock at the finish line so that everyone will know their finish time before the print outs (and online results) appear.

Thanks for that, entered ages ago. If I'm running late I'll get somebody to pop into ferns to pick it for me. I'm at the whim of a 9 month old so he'll call the shots as to what time we'll leave Dublin Sunday morning

The wind was a real killer once you turned the first corner around mile 4. Some slow drag up the N11 alrite! Did it in 86'20" knocking 3 mins off my Viking half time so happy out. Lovely spread after and great organisation overall.

They had few print outs after but didn't get copy. Fella from Belfast won in just under 70, Tom Hogan second.

Glad everyone enjoyed the race and it was a pity about the headwind on the N11 on the way back alright - it's nearly always in ur back running along there!!!!!
We circulated print-outs at refreshments/prizegiving and we'll have the results up on www.sbrclub.com over the next couple of hours.

Thanks to all who ran and helped out in any way, it was a great day :)

Big thumps up to the organisers. We'll run event and good course. Big pb by nearly 5 1/2 mins as well. Thanks to all involved. Roll on DCM in 4 weeks.

Great event and hope it's back again next year, it really puts some of the larger events to shame.

Tough but fair course, maybe I've been away from Wexford too long but I wasn't expecting that climb along the n11
