I was wondering if there are any reasonably priced Muay Thai classes located in the North Dublin area (Baldoyle/Raheny/Coolock/Artane area). I've been looking around and most places want about €15 per person per class. Sadly I just do not have that kind of cash to spare. I could maybe afford €10 a class but that would be at a push.

Dublin Thai is in Kilbarrack, Lionheart Thai is in Dublin 1 and Bridgestone Thai are in Dublin 7.

Only class price I know for sure is Bridgestone which is €7 for drop in rates (cheaper if you pay by the month).
I'm sure the other two are a similar price.

    Hope that helps

As peetrik already said we run our main gym in Dublin 1 and we also teach classes in Toned Fit Gym in Howth.

Your welcome to check out a class for free in either location and see if you like our training.

Thanks for all the responses guys and girls. For those of you who do teach M.T. I was wondering if the fact that I'm recovering from a pretty messy broken right clavicle would hinder me too much? I won't know until next week if it requires surgery but if any of you had any previous experience with members with significant injuries I was wondering how it affected these people.

I would be interested in this. I don't train MT at the moment, but I did break my left clavicle a while ago and I had to get a plate put in.

I have to warn you, a regular clavicle break is not considered a big deal, but if you have to get surgery it can be a different story. It took me a long time to heal properly. The big problem was that while I got to 80% pretty quickly it took maybe 18 months before to get to 99%. All that time the area where the plate was was very sensitive to getting knocked. I still have a tiny point where if you hit me on the collar-bone, it would have me on the floor.

Anyway I was looking to get back into MT, or some form of striking, but this injury is really putting me off, so I was also wondering if anyone has experience with it.

15 euro a class! Man and I though 9 euro a class was bad and that was with Craig O’Flynn ex world champion..

If people want cheaper classes, i suppose if you got 20 regulars, guaranteed weekly payers, together and hired a space yourselves ( €40 ? if you shop around? ) and were able to figure out (dont take into account) the initial capital costs of equipment, boxing ring etc. you could probably get a 1.5 hour class for €5 - without overheads and guaranteed income a good coach might do it for €60? €40/hr
    Are my figures right?

I dont understand the OP's logic.

If you find a cheaper class but it is further away and takes extra petrol or bus fare, its a false economy. €15 on your doorstep (walking) beats €10 on the other side of town unless you want that €5 to go to Dublin Bus specifically, sort of ring fencing your taxes? You also lose your time travelling!

Usually people are advised on this forum to go local as you are more likely not to find an excuse to skip class.

I can understand travelling to train under a specific coach if you are a serious individual, looking to be a successful fighter, however drop-in rates imply infrequent attendance and indicate a less serious though certainly welcome individual. (Not a character judgement, life can get in the way we all know)

If thats the case, then your local gym sounds best. For the sake of €5?

Ive nothing to do with MT, but this is a fairly typical martial arts info question.

Well, he's just asking what his options are. No harm in shopping around.

Sadly it is literally that. Life getting in the way. I work full time and I have other commitments aswel that I need to look after. I was unaware of the option most places have where you can pay monthly. This has actually opened my eyes to a wider amount of gyms for me to train in. I used to do kickboxing growing up and there was no option to pay a monthly lump some and some of the places I did go did not tell me that there was such an option either.
