Not being smart but I wouldn't buy them in the first place. I mean what use are they?

On mature reflection, and a quick glance on eBay, and there appears to be a small market for tiles so perhaps they were indeed a bargain.

I didn't know antiques and collectables had to have a practical use.I bought them because I like the look of them.

Can you include a picture of the back

I like them ! and they seem in good condition.
Decorative and very much a statement of it's design period with the colours and decoration.

If you need them to replace two broken tiles of the same pattern, then you got them very cheap.

If you enjoy them and can afford them then I think you did very well.

If you paid €25 solely to flip them for a profit - then maybe not as good but still not too bad

There you go.It's not too clear but in the middle theres a triangle which has the words trade mark above it and underneath England.A bit further above is Sherwins Patent and just below that is Lock back.In one of the circles on the right is printed IP and the one above that has G416.

As others have correctly suggested they are fireplace tiles.Usually there were 5 on each side of a cast iron fireplace.Your tiles were probably made between 1900 and 1910 and they are Art Nouveau,i have had the very tile you bought some years ago. They are not very valuable a fiver or a tenner each would buy most fireplace tiles. The market for these tiles is stonger in britain and the tiles you have are called" tubeline" due to the fact that the patterns were laid out in the same way as one would decorate a cake.
