Moving to Perth alone

    Hi :)

So I've been in Australia for almost a year and a half. Really like it here so far and have been pretty lucky getting work.

I'd been travelling on my own and I eventually settled in regional Victoria for 9 months as I got work in a lab in a pharmaceutical company there and it paid well. Now my contract at that job is up next month so it's time to move on. I'll have 6 months left on my visa so I'm thinking of moving to Perth.

I know it's not going to be easy upping and leaving again and starting all over making friends, getting a job, etc.

So I'm just wondering what are the best areas to live in Perth? Do people have know if it's hard to come by lab work there?

Any advice really would be good.

    Thanks :)

    Hey Loulou,

    Welcome to Perth!

I'm afraid I have no idea if there is much lab work in Perth...

Perth is nice to live. It's quite expensive though. I live in the city centre on Wellington St. $300 a week. Not cheap! I don't have to pay any bills in the apartment and I can walk to work so my bills aren't too high.

Perth has a very good train network, so I would advise living near a train station. Subiaco, Leederville, Cottlesloe and Fremantle are nice areas.

Have you checked Seek regarding jobs in Perth?

Checking on seek.com.au there are 41 positions under the Science and Technology category listed for Perth in the last 30 days. I am unable to find a specialist recruiter in this area but, if you do find one post it on here to help us all out.
