As the little suggests my better days are probably behind me. Im looking at joining up with a club to shift the unwanted pounds as my motivations sometimes questionable. I tink joining club will help that. Have done a little search an 2 clubs popped up in phoenix park search, civil service harriers and liffey valley ac. Has anyone any experience with either club? Id hate to rock up and be left for dead an laughed at by a group of elites destroying what little self confidence I've left. Thanks in advance to any replies

Isn't there a way you can go a bit of jogging yourself first to waylay the public shame before you join? These clubs. Are for runners, so they will be hoping for some kind of basic fitness levels.

In the side of motivation & costs, ( don't laugh) slumming World now combine running & motivation/nutrition classes in ( some of?) their locations -my cousin started one from zero & now looks fantastic. Might be worth a look?

Being in the same boat as the OP a few years ago. If you get out a few times a week and focus on going longer rather than faster then the weight will fall off. The slower you go the more fat you will burn, the more you will enjoy it and as a result do it more.

This bugs me there are surely clubs with Fit4Life attached to them in OP area. All runners regardless of shape size or fitness should have no fear in joining a club or taking part in club run events. They are most welcome.

There is a fit4life group in Donore Harriers on the Chapelizod road give Barry a shout or select fit4life in the drop down menu HERE and someone will get back to you quickly about the group. Should be no problem with you being able to join in that group and then move into one of the senior groups if they suit you.
