I have a BMW 318i its a 00. It's been sitting a home for a few months without been started. Tried to start it the other day but when I did it just made a clicking noise and the headlights flashed. The battery wasn't great before so is the battery just knackered? I tried jumping in it but no joy.

Usually battery will go flat if you leave car even for 2-4 weeks, so no surprise it's not starting after few months.

Charge the battery if you can. See if it starts and takes a charge.

If not just buy a new battery. Ask for a battery designed for a diesel as they have a higher amp rating, will last a lot longer in a petrol ;)

Yeah, sounds like the battery not having enough charge to drive the starter.
