Dryness from contacts

I've been having discomfort with the contact lens in my right eye for well over a year now, it starts almost as soon as I put it in and feels like a dryness or unevenness at the top of the lens against my eyelid. I've had it checked out a number of times at the opticians and there no damage to the cornea or lack of moisture in my eyes. I've also started wearing the extra-air circulation contacts but they've made no difference, anyone got any suggestions on what it could be or what I can do?

I'd try another optometrtist if I were you.

I get those exact symptoms about half the time I put in my contacts. It's almost always a hair or some other piece of crap trapped between the lens and my eye (only feel it when the contact goes in) and always at the top of the contact lens. It can be tough to remove but it is doable with some determination. Have you had a good close up look at the problem area yourself in the mirror?

As I said, it's been going on for over a year and I don't feel anything when the contacts are out so it's definitely not a hair. Maybe I should be trying a different optometrist.

No reason not to. No point being uncomfortable all the time.

Has your optometrist ever everted your lid i.e. turned it out to look under the lid? It sounds like you could have some roughness under the lid that can only go away by taking a break from lenses for a bit.

Yeah, there was no problem. Only thing she could think was that I had blocked oil pores. I did heat therapy on my eyelid but that made no difference either:(
