    Hi all
does anyone know of where in Ireland you can buy good bogy composition measuring device?
I can see a few places to buy bio-impedance equipment, which I might go with but it doesn't seem consistent. ideally something ultrasound like the one below looks pretty good for home use.

    http://www.intelametrix.com/intlBX2000/

so anyone have experience with this?

I'm not sure about that device.
And I'd be even less sure about joe public's ability to differentiate between epithelial, adipose & muscle tissue on it without a qualification in diagnostic imaging.

    The standard ways would be:
    1. Skin fold calipers. + or - 3% margin of error.
    2. DEXA scan. Expensive

it has its own software to do that you just point it at a few spots on the body and u just get back numbers. think ill just go with something like this for the min

there's def gonna be errors but it might be better than nothing cant really find a home use accurate device. really thought the response would have been better haha but I guess its not very interesting

It's not that its not interesting, its just overly complex way of achieving anything.
Why do you need a super accurate home BF% measure?
If you want to accurately track BF% at a given point in time, there are methods like DXA with are available and more than adequate. With a scan every 6 to 12 months, you'll have a good idea where you stand.

Just so you know, that ultrasound scanner doesn't measure BF%, it measure BF thickness at a certain points, you take readings at 3-9 points and it estimates a BF%. Just like estimating a calipers. So only a tiny portion of your body is actually measured. Maybe its easier to get accurate and consistent readings with the ultrasound device, but its still exposed to variation and inaccuracy from formulas/averages.

Just use a measuring tape to measure your waist and the mirror. There is no real advantage or benefit to knowing your exact bodyfat %. It's just one more pointless thing to obsess about.

Waist measurement going down? All good.
