I'm thinking about entering a competition but haven't a clue what to do.

    Can I deadlift barefoot?
Do I need to use a certain type of belt?
How do I call the weights I want to use?

    Cheers..

Depending on the federation the rules can be different but for the IDFPA you can't lift barefoot, you can use the deadlift slippers which are pretty close to barefoot, I use converse myself. Most proper powerlifting belts will be ok just double check the specs, you can find on the rulebook. Those weightliftibg belts with the bubble in the back are not allowed.

For calling your lifts you ll give your opener at the weigh in and then after your first lift you will give your next to the judges and so on.

    Where do you live?

If you're around Limerick, there is an IPO Push/Pull (Bench/Deadlift) meet tomorrow at Eastway Gym.

I'll be there and more than happy to talk to you about anything powerlifting related.
