I remember a cycle shop owner had a Marina estate 1.3 back in the mid 70's in that period mustard colour so popular at the time! There was also a van version with the same nose. Can't be many survived.

    2669 ZL is a 1973 reg (Dublin)!

Whereas the Marina estate in the picture is a mark 2 model ( I think 1977 onwards)

    Another rogue import??

they are and it's a bubble that will burst some day.

It's one thing matching a car to a book but when it is obvious that it's a newer vehicle ringed on to a older book it's even worse

'Elephant' is one thing, but what some are doing is the American / German way of doing it - the PERSON owns the plate and just puts it onto whatever comes into his possession

In theory the Marina case - IF indeed there is a case ( not unknown for registration authorities to make a wrong entry in the log book and nobody cops it :o ) as the lights / grille could have been swopped for the later ones

At the end of the day maybe it's 'Irish envy' of someone getting away with something by outsmarting the authorities - and if the bankers are anything to go by it'll go on for a long time

According to many posters on here they are not, but that's a good example.
If your in the market for any classic in the country nowadays it's 'caveat emptor' now more than ever.
You don't wanna be left with a pup!

i think the last Marina was made in 1980, in which case this car would be Vintage anyway. What's the reason it hasn't been re-registered properley? one can only wonder

The fact that any number you get here for an imported car is now a disaster too adds to the whole issue.

Has a full years tax as well. But doesn't say is it the '73 saloon or the '79 estate that's covered!

I owned a saloon Marina about two years ago. Of all the cars I've owned (modern and classic) it was the only one I could find nothing I liked about it.

If you owned one 'back in the day' you'd find less good to say about it!
Greatest pile of sh1te I ever had the misfortune to buy.

The gearbox was very lightweight though, you could change a clutch on one single handed! :D

I remember having the use of a Morris Ital back in the day. I believe it was related to the marina. It looked like one anyway.

Awful awful piece of sh*t. With a bizzare dashboard with the controls angled away from the driver.

Cortina estate was so much better.
