So lads, friday the 13th really kept true to its name today, there I was in traffic and these scobes came running down through the traffic and the footpath, squirting superglue at cars they got bits of my lower door, I've gotten most of it off with polish but there's a few stubborn pieces that aren't budging, So does anyone have any idea what to do? I don't have much money so I can't go mad

sometimes lighter fluid can breakdown certain adhesives..

    or..

after sometime the glue will hopefully deteriorate and dry out...then you can force/push it off with a blunt instrument...use something plastic like an ice scraper for your wind shield...

Tar & Glue Remover, I like Auto Finesse's Obliterate myself although AutoGlym's product would do the same and is available more readily. I'd certainly avoid using any 'blunt instruments' unless you want to scratch the paint.

I used it on a metallic vw before with no problems. The glue was on that for a day before I noticed it

Nail polish remover should do it, it has acetone in it, not sure how it will react to paint and laquer though, probably not good.

Any solvent will break it down, nail varnish remover must have acetone in it to work.

Right the nail polish remover got them down to individual pieces, so I'll go get some glue remover, hopefully that'l do the trick

The shop Dealz sells super glue for 1.50 for 10. It comes with a super glue remover bottle aswell. I've never used it so cant comment on it's effectiveness.

A hairdryer will soften the glue and you will be able to get it off.

Yep! says on the back to leave it for at least 7 hours, I want to make sure it works :pac:

If the glue is fresh it should come off easy enough. I think mine had broken down in about 15mins or so. I would be afraid to leave it on paintwork for that long tbh

Ah, no mine was on for about an hour and a half or maybe more, so I just want to take the extra precaution, I asked in the shop and they said it'd be fine

Is there a law against cutting 100% of the scumbags dole until all the damage they've caused is paid off?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,088 ✭✭✭sean1141

Cool. It will turn to gel and you can wipe it off with a cloth

Just an update, the superglue remover worked really well, there's still some clear residue left but you can't even see it, so I'll tackle that another day, thanks everyone :)

If you know someone with a D/A that residue can be removed fairly easily. You could try getting rid of it yourself with something like Turtle Wax Safe cut and a cloth.

Try Holts tar and spot remover for the last bit remaining, brilliant stuff and leaves the paint undamaged. Spray some on a cloth and dab it onto it and leave it on for a few minutes then wipe off.
