    Hi all,
Has anyone here used Wave Cloud accounts and if so, have they linked their Irish Bank account to it? I am having reservations about linking the account for security reasons...

    Thanks
    Richard

This is more of a business decision than a InfoSec one to be honest.

Do you use Sage Online payroll/Accounts?
    Do you use Banking Online?

    same deal here.

Is it the fact that you are giving another company access to your account information or is it the fact that they are based on "the cloud" that is giving you cause for concern?

If it is the company: do your homework, who are their clients, what is their reputation, how long have they been trading, what sort of background do they have.

If its the cloud aspect: what sort of security do they provide? (they list 256bit encryption...but what aspect is encrypted? is the data stored in encrypted format, at what point is it decrypted to allow it to be processed/compressed/backed up etc , backups: are they stored encrypted? what period of time are they stored for - do they meet financial regulations requirements - 7 years isn't it? - or do you have to store them yourself, if so what format do you get them in, can they be restored offline in the event that the Cloud aspect of the software goes belly up?).

forget the Cloud aspect and think of it as any online or computerised accounts package, theoretically any of them are vulnerable if the machine they are run on is connected to a network that has access to the outside world: what security measures have been taken here to protect your transactions and data?

for those unfamiliar with Wave (as I am), its not WaveCloud the online book store it's Wave Cloud Accounting

I'd be a bit concerned over their claim to 100% free and then the amount of features they advertise. They have to be making money from somewhere...is it ad supported? are there features that you have to purchase? If so, are any of the purchasable features the ones that make it secure ?

It's also not (which is even more confusing) the Wave Systems who make security software.
