Is Blanchardstown close enough to the DCM start line?

    Hi,

A typical cultchie question I suppose. I'm looking at hotels for the DCM. Will it be difficulty to get from Blanchardstown to RDS and start line following day?

    Thanks in advance.

Depending on where in Blanch you could get the train into town, if you are near Clonsilla/Coolmine or Castleknock stations.

Otherwise it's about 40mins to an hour on the bus.
I think that maybe the 39A goes out towards RDS - best check it on the Dublin Bus website.

Where in Blanchardstown, it'll be one of two or three hotels I guess ? Depending on where you could be close enough to one of the train stations and can get a train close enough to the RDS, otherwise it's either a bus into the city, and either another bus out to the RDS, or a decent walk to it. For Merrion Square, there's plenty of buses leaving you into the city centre and it's a short walk then.

Depends on your mode of transport. Buses will largely be running a Sunday service, which means most of 'em won't start running until around 8:45am, which is too late. If driving or taking a taxi, you'd be fine.

You will be able to drive into the city center/RDS on both days though a taxi can be handy as parking can be a little hard to find at peak times near the expo.

Race is going to be at 9am so you want to have eaten well before 7. Now if you stay in a place out in the sticks then you might not be able to do that. I stayed in the Maldron Hotel Cardiff Lane last year. The whole hotel was runners almost. Breakfast was served from 6:30. Porridge, banana's etc I noticed one or two runners went for the fry. yikes. It is well situated that you can walk to/from the start finish. Rooms are nice and pool/sauna/jacuzzi is nice for the sore legs post race or the following morning. I don't know what the story with parking is as I got the train.

    Hi Guys,

Thanks for the tips. I've ran the DCM 2 times already. Each time I stayed in ballsbridge area. From what people are saying I should go the same this time around.

    Thanks again.

Holiday Inn pearse street is a stones throw from the start and finish, you couldn't go wrong.
