Informal job rejection?

    Hi,

So, I applied to this internship which clearly states "visual merchandising" and "promotion campaign" in the offer. It also stated interns are to assist the team during the sales period.
Hence, in my cover letter I talked about the commercial aspect of the internship (was I wrong?). The website was full of similar internship offers which all clearly stated the position has a commercial aspect to it.

    I submitted my application.

The lady sent me an email right away telling me "Hi, This internship has no commercial aspect to it. Regards". Hum ok.

I don't understand. Is this an informal rejection? Or am I supposed to say something back? I don't really get it.

    Thanks

Sounds like a rejection, but you could always call and ask for more feedback on why you weren't suitable.

I suggest you respond back asking for clarification as to whether you are still eligible for consideration and emphasize your eagerness to gain a foothold in that industry and as much exposure to whatever aspects are on offer irrespective of whether there is a commercial element or not. (if that is what you want).

You might be better posting this in the Biz/Personal/Work & Jobs forum on Boards which gets a lot of excellent posts on all aspects of job seeking/careers/workplace issues.

I think I'd reply, just to be sure. Just thank them for getting back so quickly, and you'd still like to be considered as there's lots of other interesting aspects to the role etc.

Threads merged, please don't post the same thread in multiple forums.
