FYI for anyone out there using FXCM for trading.

I had a trailing stop set up on some BKIR shares that failed to fire immediately when the shares started to drop one morning. The order didn't go through until the shares had fallen considerably further.

It turns out that FXCM rely on a US firm to complete trailing stops and so the order didn't go through until the US stock market opened at 2.30pm on the London exchange.

They have said "Trailing stops are really only for day traders" and that as far as they are aware it is only trailing stops that go through the US firm.

    Very poor.

I've used them in the past and found them reliable.
