I don't have Saorsat but there's been no confirmation from any source that they're there.

Nothing at all i don't think they ever will be.

Nope they are currently not on Saorsat as they refuse to pay for it.

It really is a disgraceful, saorsat is part of saorview. Can anybody do anything about it, or are we that powerless.

It's down to the minister of communication at the end of the day if he say they have to change they have to change

Thank you for that, the minster need to act on this and put an end to this matter for once and for all

They never did anything about TV3 breaking their Analogue licence and refusing to pay to be on the repeaters etc.

Don't expect BAI or Minister to do anything. Maybe you'll get UTV Ireland on Saorsat in 2015 though.

On Soarsat do the RTE channels have MHEG, DVB text, both, or neither?

I understand the RTE channels on Saorsat have MHEG5 text whilst TG4 has DVB text

First of all we must get all the channels on it , then we can deal with that.

On what basis. The Minister didn't issue the contract to TV3 and there's nothing in their contract (to the best of our knowledge) stipulating they have to be carried on any satellite much less pay for it. I'd be surprised if there were especially given Saorsat simply wasn't envisaged at the time it was signed.

I'm sure if the BAI retrospectively tried to change TV3's contract unilaterally to require them to go on Saorsat at their own expense a judicial review application would be made pretty quickly.

Lets hope UTV take up a space when they come to the Republic, it may force TV3 to rethink, if they last that long!

Is Saorsat still alive I wonder! Never hear anything about it, can it carry TG4HD? We won't be seeing Virgin Media TV on it but we have everything else. Surely to God it can carry more HD content much cheaper than Saorview.

Wow, there is a lot of spare capacity on the service, nearly more than Saorview. Its a shame they don't upgrade the picture quality on both services, if they have nothing else to put on.

I think there are 75 services on Saorview (2 muxes) including radio, test and blank etc.

Are there 2 channel numbers for RTEjr Radio and RTE Chill?

On Saorview they share 207, RTE Chill starts at 9pm. 209 was removed a good while ago

Saorsat will be the main platform after 2030 when nearly all European countries will be switching off the terrestrial transmitters, and that will include Ireland.

To devote more bandwidth to 5G so we can all squint at cat videos on 4" screens instead :P

pretty much everyone will have 1G internet connections at that stage so I'd say IPTV will be the alternative if DTV is decommissioned.
