Sending luggage ahead

Been trying a few of the send ahead services, eg sendmybag.com

Finding that their website doesn't seem to offer a quote or else they don't offer Ireland as a pickup point.

Could anyone recommend one that services Ireland and is hopefully much cheaper than Ryanair/Aer Lingus?

Not sure whether it'll be cheaper or not, but the crowd below are Dublin based

Really doesn't look any cheaper, in fact it's more expensive than Aer Lingus - I thought the idea was these guys were cheaper and easier since they sent door to door....

I think EI only allow a 20kg total allowance on short haul.

Every kg above that is charged at a fairly prohibitive rate & I guess that's where using services such as these really begin to make sense.

Don't get your logic, Aer Lingus takes your luggage from one airport to another, why would a company which transports your bag from door to door be cheaper?

Door to door inolves a van and a driver at each end of the journey, surely that would make the service more expensive?

From Dublin to the UK. Really asking cos I'll be taking sporting equipment and am fed up paying €30-50 each way. I don't mind paying the regular baggage fee but these fees are just a huge rip off.

I can't imagine you'll get cheaper than that. I was going to suggest using An Post. I sent 20kg of stuff for €60 and that was to Canada. Using the SailRail thing might be the only way of getting it cheaper.
