More cheap and cheerful, although the description says 'discreet and modest' :pac:

    Thanks Davy for the BA.

Bought 1 this evening for the utility room.:)

Tesco have their own 45 litre plastic bin for 20 euro.........so the Argos/Curver 50 litre bin is a good bargain indeed.:)

    Does the bin smell nice?

    Is it smooth to touch?

I had a brabantia bin once but I had so many problems with the lid. My brother had the same problem with his. Maybe just had bad luck .

Thanks Davy, I'm gonna get one of these

@OP - thanks for the tip, I could do with a bigger recycling bin for the kitchen. Have the timeless Brabantia as my main bin for well over a decade now :)

Edit: I see the make of this bin is Curver, which by all means is a decent maker of bins and other household equipment. Reserved one in Liffey Valley :)

Nope not bad luck, it was a poor design. Brabantia recognised this and sent out replacement lids (normal price €45 + shipping) completely free of charge. No proof of purchase needed either and my bin was about 8 years old already at the time

Fair play to Brabantia for this fine example of how customer service should work

I got my replacement lid and I made aware several family members who later also received their free replacement lids

Just noticed this on the Argos website -

    "Additional Information

    * Please note item 9047796 has previously been on sale at €7.19.

Current selling price valid until 24/09/2013"

So it has gone up in price?

That only means that at some point it was on sale for €7.19. Could have been years ago. Could have been for a day only. There could have been zero in stock for that price

Summary: that doesn't mean anything in Argos :)

Picked it up just now. Reasonable quality. Very good value for money at €8.99

It will save me from having to empty the recycling bin into the big outside bin on a daily basis :)

    Haha, oh right!

Sorry, didn't get the reference. Jeez, they don't seem to have a good "lid designer" do they.

I find Brabantia to be hilarious as a brand concept. They seem to be perceived as the "Rolls Royce" of bins, yet lots of people seem to have problems with them. I mean, how hard is it to design a good bin!!!!

Reserved one at Waterford and text says reserved at Wexford, tried again, same thing.

So reserved one at Wexford hoping text might say Waterford but no joy, their website can be very iffy at times.:(
