Would i be able to give somebody my place at halls at this stage?

I know this is really late notice. But other accommodation that i would rather stay at suddenly became availible. Would i be able to give somebody my place at this stage (havent paid yet)? As i know a lot of people on boards and facebook would love an ensuite single in halls.

i think if you give up your place, it goes to whoever is next on the list, i don't know if you can give it to whoever you want

but if you can, ill happily take it from you, still homeless atm :pac:

i think you just email the warden of halls ? and ask if you can give it to me

So I sent an email an hour ago to both halls and residences saying that I would like to give up my place. I mentioned that there were people here willing to take my place.

I'd imagine I won't get a reply until tomorrow? It's unlikely they'd check emails this late. Only problem is people are supposed to arrive tomorrow.

if you say you know who it is, rather than a stranger on the interweb, that person will have a better chance of getting that place if ya know what i mean

Suitable private accommodation came up earlier than expected. I was going to stay until Christmas and then move as I thought I wouldn't get anything for at least another month or two.

Still got no email back, which is kinda worrying considering that freshers are supposed to be there by 5:30.

They still haven't replied to me strangely enough. I sent an email to both tcd residences and the halls.

The fees thing is still on mytcd. So perhaps they haven't even looked at it yet? Although I got no call either about not being there Friday so I have no idea what's happening at the moment.

same here. and its in skerries, which means unless some sound person outside halls has a couch im gonna miss all the freshers nights

Not a chance am I missing the Freshers nights.. I'm just gonna put up for a taxi home. I have a bunch of friends in Halls too so I'm gonna see where they're for tonight and if I can get to it too.

Sorry for the late reply, but i didn't use the internet much the last two weeks. On Monday i got a reply (finally) that my room had been reallocated to a person who was living in temporary accommodation in halls.

Really? I know a guy from my hometown who is on the waiting list since early freshers week. Who told you this?

I spend most of my time there (I have digs across the road) and I'm pretty sure the story about free rooms is simply a myth.

if there is any free rooms, id say they are being held for people who get late offers, hopefully in a few weeks there'll be offers from Halls for those of us in temporary accommodation
