    Folks,

I'm looking to get laser eye surgery in the next few months. I am short sighted -3.00 and -3.25 and aged 32 and i've been meaning to get it done for years but i kept putting it on the long finger. Think its time to just bite the bullet and book an appointment. Up to now i've been using glasses in work and contact lenses for football etc.

I know a few people who got laser done in mater private and have sung their praises and also Optilase seems to have a great reputation. I had my eyes tested last year and i was told my eyes would be "ideal candidates" for laser surgery so i'm just wondering who would people recommend?

    Any tips/suggestions?

    Thanks

Think there's a thread with a poll for this. I went to the Wellington myself. Mater would have been my second choice alright. Wouldn't have gone elsewhere.

I've been reading other threads but they all seem to be from a few years ago just wondering was there update opinions! I think i'd ere on the side of caution and go with Mater private unless there is a crazy difference in money.

Mater private and Wellington have fully qualified ophthalmic surgeons. You don't know what real qualifications the other places have. I am a doc and would never choose a commercial place as have heard too many horror stories.

See this is the stuff i wanted to hear to back up my insistence in going for a "hospital" solution instead of cheaper optilase type place. One thing i dont want to scrimp on is my eyes :-)

Absolutely! They only need to feck it up once to royally mess you over.I had mine done 8 years ago in mater private and perfect ever since and mine were "difficult"

i am booked in for an assessment in the Wellington, great to hear the good responses here. I will let you know what i think afterwards, i agree with everyone though i would definitely only go to a hospital option.
