See they are having their Scratch cups on this Saturday in Knockanally. I've never played it before, and was just wondering if anyone would recommend it, or should I stay away?

Also, if anyone has played it recently, what kind of condition is it in?

Hi Stevie hav'nt played this course for a couple of years so can't give you up to date info but i have say it's worth a visit. the tee boxes were always poor(unlevel) and it can be a bit of a bog when it rains but with the summer we've had it should be in good nick, some nice holes 1,11,12, course can be tough mostly the front nine but opens up from 14th. i have booked in for 8.20 if you fancy it (i need the practise hav,nt played since greystones) weather forecast looking good.

Yep, played alright in Carton. Realised I wouldn't be able to play Knockanally when I was in pain even hitting the 150 yard shots. Finished with 110 points in the end.

What was the course in Knockanally like? It's been years since I played down there.

    rough & ready

greens were like sponges, very slow... tee boxes like upside down hairy saucers. one of the lads with us said when i asked him about the fairway on one hole.... "there are no fairways here, just rough and semi rough" some crap, unfair, totally stupid holes, some ok ones, a few good ones.

wouldn't be in a rush back there

so are you in trouble for palmerstown?

Not looking great for Palmerstown at the moment. Probably gonna take 4 weeks to get it sorted so Palmerstown is looking tight. We'll see how it progresses.

That's a pity to hear that Knockanally has been let go like that.

A bit harsh I think. Also played in the scratch cup yesterday. Thought that the tee boxes were poor enough but felt the rest of the course was decent. Some nasty pin positions...

Played awful on front nine, after an 8 on the first . Finished on 49. Bogeyed 10, 11 and 12, then finished with 6 straight pars :) 39 back nine. Playing off 15 so finished net 73. A real game of two halves!

many be i was a bit harsh, but you should of heard the lads playing with us. poor aul tigerwood had an awful time trying to defend the place

Think Stevob is a little critical - only 12E entry after all- club has just been sold so developments awaited. Potentially good course if drainage and tees improved- greens just need more maintenance and money!

Agree totally re teeboxes- cannot understand why clubs did get them someway level!

Do anyone get results from the junior- not on HowdidIdo- our club not a member.

    Thanks
