You could ask if you could just have a walk with the dog
Have a mate set up in a field somewhere to fire a shot and see how the dog goes from maybe 200-300 yards.
After that, if reactions are good, start moving closer to 1 shot, then 2 continuos till the dog knows not to be worried about a loud bang.then take the dog along and start training

that would be my opinion anyway.
No point in months training for the dog to bolt as soon as the 1st shots fired

Definitely see if the dog is gun shy first. I just spent the last six month training a springer only to find out hes gun shy.

The impression you give is ya have a few dogs and young ones at that , pretty much hands full with the career as you put it , and training youngs dogs .

So the question you had to ask your self is would you be able to give the dog , all the time YOU'D have to spend with that dog , ya could be spending with your own .

Dogs you hand pick ye self . Lads get into to many dogs and then dogs get neglected training wise .

But like I said I don't even know why I bothered replying !

Ya id strongly agree with you trigger
mate of mine was mad into springers up untill a year ago...it was springer this spaniel that.he owned 3 of them at the time
he has now, all of a smack, taken a fascination with labs and now owns 3 of them

The poor springers are now haltered up full time as the labs are getting all the training and runs.

Having time for a new dog is very underlooked nowadays

i have one older dog and one young springer pup,and one working terrier i dont think thats too many dogs in fairness and i didnt ask you trigger for your opinion on wether i should own another dog or not i asked the qquestion was she worth taking a gamble on so i dont know why the hell you came out with reply "how many dogs do u own" and what do u mean about "would you be able to to give the dog all the time I'd have " are u implying you spend more time than i do with our dogs cause the last time i checked you were in yabby creek having OJ's in the diner :pac:
